The protein diet has several names, which it is often referred to - for example, you could have heard about it by the name of a protein diet or a cyclic ketogenic diet. If you have not heard the previous terms, perhaps you might know it under the widely used phrase ketone diet or shortly the keto-diet. All of these names mean one and the same method recognised by medical science that promises noticeable results in the weight loss process already after the first few weeks of dieting. The protein diet was discovered by a Harvard Professor George L. Blackburn who focused on the study of the human organism and its ability to burn the stored fats.
Professor Blackburn was able to identify a state called ketosis - he was also able to describe specific conditions under which such state can be induced in the body. The research conducted by Professor Blackburn showed the following: weight reduction occurs primarily at the expense of the stored fat tissue while the muscles remain preserved; and, thereby, the risk of yo-yo effect minimises.
Ketosis is an entirely natural biological state where the body regularly obtains sufficient amount of proteins while the intake of carbohydrates and fats is reduced to a minimum. To stress the bottom line, let us describe the process when the ketosis occurs: the so-called “ketone bodies”, which appear during the process of cleaving the fat tissues begin to form. What rules shall I adhere to while protein-dieting?

For a proper functioning of the Prodietix protein diet and guaranteed results in weight loss, the below-mentioned rules must be followed (if you break the rules, such action may lead to a slowing down or termination of the ketosis state in the organism):
1) Adhere to proper drinking habits
Keep in mind that it is necessary to drink at least 2-3 l of unflavoured water per day or sugarless green or black tea. If you like to drink coffee, it is possible to consume only black coffee (Turkish coffee or espresso) twice a day, without milk and sugar. You can drink decaffeinated coffee (caffeine can slow the ketosis).
2) Do not forget to eat vegetables
Consume at least 300-500g of selected types of “allowed” types of vegetables, but not more than 1000g a day. The permitted types of vegetables are different for each stage of the protein diet. A detailed list of allowed types of vegetables can be found in the chapters that describe each stage in detail below in the text. Vegetables can be eaten as a side dish to protein meals, as “standard” meals or in-between meals.
3) Eat regularly
The customer can eat approximately every 3-4 hours a protein meal during his/her day. You shall eat the first meal (breakfast) up to half an hour after waking up, and the last meal approximately two hours before your bedtime. 4) Beware of saccharides
Ketosis is very sensitive to the energy values in the consumed food, especially the level of carbohydrates/sugars. If you indulge yourself in a meal really rich in carbohydrates, the protein diet becomes ineffective. For example, one traditional roll or one beer can completely stop the ketosis process because these foods are full of carbohydrates. Moreover, to star the ketosis process lasts 2 to 3 days. It is necessary to avoid all types of foods that contain high amounts of carbohydrates or fats for the entire protein diet. These comprise mainly sweets, candies, chips and salty snacks, pastries, sausages, delicacies, spirits, sweetened lemonades, juices, etc.
Do I need to regularly exercise while keto-dieting?
In the first phase, it is possible to continue doing activities that the body is accustomed to, but it is not recommended to introduce new sports. You can start with new sports activities in the second and third stages.
It is not necessary to do sports activities during a protein diet, but it can be very beneficial for its effectiveness. We recommend performing regular and correct exercises in the second phase of protein diet to reduce the weight. If you want to increase the weight loss, you shall focus on the so-called aerobic physical activities (based on the Greek term for air = aer). In this case, the body exercises metabolism in the presence of oxygen. It can be described as a type of exercise where we can talk without difficulties and constraints to the breath while the body is warm, i.e. the maximum heart rate ranges from 50 to 75%. Such activities include, for example, swimming, walking (Nordic walking), slow running (jogging), cycling, cross-country skiing, rowing, roller-skating and much more. However, an aerobic activity can also be, for example, housekeeping and gardening. Such sports activities shall take more than 40 minutes. Ideally, you should perform physical aerobic activities three times a week.
